The young are born blind. They usually open their eyes within 7 or 14 days. They are born almost bare and absolutely helpless. The newborns draw nourishing milk from their mother until they are weaned. The time of weaning usually depends on the size of the litter and the amount of milk in the mother. The young should not be weaned any later than their seventh week. Their first teeth erupt through the gums during the third to sixth week of its life.
