Adult males of the breed tend to dominate and require a lot of attention. They should be socialized properly and given enough exercises. Having originated from the Asiatic mastiff, English Bulldogs make excellent guardians and watchdogs, though they are very gentle with children and other pets. Notwithstanding their not very attractive appearance, these animals display a gentle, amicable personality with a lot of devotion and loyalty.
