If you have made a decision of buying a puppy, you will inevitably face difficulties when choosing a reliable breeder, who produces high quality English Bulldogs. By this time, it is important to learn to distinguish between true breeders and puppy mills.
Puppy mills provide puppies for brokers, wholesale traders and pet stores. In this case, usually puppies are kept in long rows of wire cages, and in very large quantities. Obviously, these creatures cannot enjoy proper health care and acceptable supervision, let alone appropriate socialization.
Do not buy your puppy from these types of providers. You will almost certainly encounter a whole batch of genetic and infectious diseases or deviations from the breed standard. Rather, buy only from an ethical and knowledgeable breeder, who possesses professional knowledge on the breed, its history and condition for maintaining them.
English Bulldogs - Pictures - What makes a true breeder?
Qualified breeders never sell puppies until they make sure the pups are leaving for acceptable homes, where they will receive proper care and safety. Therefore, they scan buyers for their attitude toward English Bulldogs by asking them numerous questions about their families, other pets in the house and living space.
True breeders are never in a hurry just to get rid of their pups off their hands to whoever comes along. The never keep many puppies and share any kind of information with potential buyers. They are never shy to tell people about their pups' disadvantages and genetic problems, which might have occurred down the line.
Qualified breeders accept personal responsibility for the well-being of the breed and take direct part in providing ample conditions for the purity of the breed by excluding faulty species from breeding programs. All true breeders have AKC registration certificates, which entitle their English Bulldogs to participate in dog shows and breeding projects.
